Skogssällskapet / Tilanhoitajat is looking for a new Managing Director

 

Skogssällskapet, founded in 1912, is a unique Swedish private land-management company with subsidiaries in Finland and the Baltics. Skogssällskapet is an independent service consulting firm and specializes in advisory of land and forest assets. They assist private, corporate and public customers to manage and utilize their forests, buildings and land in sustainable ways, considering economic, environmental and social terms. The forest managers are made up of motivated specialists with extensive knowledge and experience. Skogssällskapet is one of the largest private founders of forestry research in Sweden.

The Finnish subsidiary uses the local brand Tilanhoitajat and currently employs five people. Tilanhoitajat started its operations in Finland in 2014. Skogssällskapet / Tilanhoitajat mission is to manage and grow own forest assets on a long-term basis and to consult clients with various forestry related services in holistic land development and wood sales. Tilanhoitajat are continuously growing their business and team. The new office will be located in the main capital region.

Position Description

The new Managing Director (MD) will have P/L responsibility for leading the Finnish operations according to the guidelines given by the Group. S/he has responsibility of heading all relevant company functions; sales, marketing, profitability and concept development. The new MD is involved in developing and expanding the Finnish operations which aims to triple their business in the coming years.

In order to ensure growth, the person must be sales oriented and able to develop the advisory concept according to local market needs. It is important that the person finds it natural to network with various stakeholders and establishes and maintains excellent relationships with key clients and takes actively part in new client prospecting and sales visits. S/he will put high emphasis on quality and customer satisfaction in order to create a strong brand awareness on the market.

Profile

  • Relevant academic degree (e.g. forestry) and several years of experience in land and forest management and/or consultancy and wood supply.
  • Proven track record in sales and leading business operations.
  • Good leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills and understanding of contractual issues.
  • Strong business acumen and decision-making skills.
  • Fluent command of Finnish and English, Swedish is considered an advantage.
